Joining Town's academy at under 11 level, after twice being named academy player of the year Lewis was loaned out to Bradford City in a season where he joined fellow town loanee Jack Payne. Bradford were relegated to League 2, although it must be noted that without Lewis, Bradford would not even had a chance of survival.
Lewis made his town debut against QPR and had a difficult start to the season, not being selected in 4 out the first 6 games, but under Danny Cowley he flourished into one of the best young players in the league. He made the second most tackles in the 19/20 season in the championship making 120 tackles. He made the most tackles of any under 21 and 30 more tackles than the next U21 which was the 16 year old wonderkid Jude Bellingham.
