Steve Mounie

Preferred Foot: Right

Date of Birth: 29 September 1994

Joining Town for a club record fee of £11.7 million from Montpellier, Steve signed a 4 year deal on 5 July 2017. During the 2016/17 Ligue 1 season, Mounie scored 14 goals in 35 games which was only 1 less than Kylian Mbappe.
The Beninese striker notably scored 2 on his star studded debut against Crystal Palace and went on to score 7 goals during his debut season in the premier league, although it should be noted he was dropped to make way for Laurent Depoitre in games against the 'Big 6'. His second season was very poor scoring 2 goals in 31 games, with many calling him out on his poor displays, but was it the system? In 2019/20 he became a changed player under Danny Cowley who liked a big striker, showing signs of why Town parted with a hefty amount of cash for him. He scored 8 goals in 13 games around the turn of the new year, including a screamer against Blackburn to deliver Town's first win from behind in 990 days. He finished the season with a goal to minute ratio of a goal every 177 minutes which was the best on the Huddersfield Team.
