29th August 2019, Joel signed a season long loan deal to join Town from Manchester United. In 2017, Jose Mourinho said that Pereira had the potential to become Portugal's next best goalkeeper, but after a fairly unsuccessful loan move to Hearts, Joel is hoping to get his first proper taste of English football with Town and to try and rekindle his stagnated career.
