Joining Town on the 1st July 2018, on an initial 3 year deal from Leicester City on a free transfer.
During his time as a Leicester Player, Ben played in the Champions League and also won the Premier League during the 2015/16 season. After joining Town Hamer, quickly asserted himself in the first team due to Jonas Lossl not being fully fit after the 2018 World Cup, but things didn't go to plan, conceding 9 goals in his first two games and then a serious injury in the third set his season back. Hamer spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Derby and had a good season, managing to keep out Kelle Roos for most of the season. After this loan, Ben was given the number 1 jersey at Town as he entered the final year of his contract during the 2020/21 season.
Hamer left the club in January 2021 for Swansea City. It brought to a close a difficult 30 months in West Yorkshire, but he could leave knowing he had performed well in the first half of 2020/21, making a number of key saves.
