Danel Sinani, What to expect

28/07/2021

Off the back of 24 goals and 8 assists in 30 games in all competitions for Sinani in 2019/20 for F91 Dudelange, Norwich City snapped the 34 time Luxembourg international on a free transfer.
It is fair to say that things didn't really go to plan at Norwich for Danel, he was shipped out on loan after only 1 month of being an official Canary. He was under the impression that he was in the squad for a promotion challenge, but now after Norwich's promotion to the Premier League his chances of any gametime have been quashed further.
Danel signs on a season-long loan move from Norwich, with Town having the option to make the transfer permanent. He will wear the number 24 during his loan spell.

Last season

Sinani spent last season on loan at Waasland-Beveren as they were relegated from the Belgium Pro League. The left footed winger, who can also play as a number 10 scored 4 goals and registered a single assist in 21 appearances in all competitions.

European Pedigree

Sinani comes in with alot of European football expierence for his age. He has played in 2 Champions League qualifiers, along with 12 appearances in the Europa League qualifiers, where he scored 8 times and registered 2 assists. F91 Dudelange qualified for the full competition on both occasions, with Danel scoring 5 goals and 1 assist in 11 games, which included a brace against Sevilla.

International Career.

Although born in Belgrade, Sinani chooses to represent Luxembourg, where he lived since he was 5. He has 34 caps for his nation along with 6 goals and 5 assists. With all of his goal involvements coming when is played off the right hand side or through the middle. Clearly Danel likes to cut in onto his favoured left foot. This gives Town the option to switch up their attacking style and allow them to change their side of attack. Last season Town played alot down the left side with Toffolo and Koroma and it did get quite predictable.

The Verdict.

I was a bit sceptical when I heard the news that Town was interested in a loan deal for Sinani, but as it is a loan to buy option, I think it is a good move by Town. A set piece taker who can play in the number 10 or out in the wide areas is certainly something that Town have been crying out for. Danel brings in a wealth of experience for someone of his age, while also being young enough that he can improve in the future. My slight worry is that he is not Championship proven, which I think Town are lacking a bit in the squad. It is probably the most exciting signing Town have made this window and if Town can make 2/3 more like this, then Town are setting up for a promising season. Danel could be set to make his Town debut along with the other 6 summer signings on Sunday at Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.
