HTAFC Loan Report Matchday 1

08/08/2021

The EFL kicked off yesterday, Town drew 1-1 at Derby County. Naby Sarr headed home Sorba Thomas' free kick to equalise for Town. Elsewhere, Town had 4 players who were out on loan involved in their opening day fixtures.

Rarmani Edmonds-Green: Rotherham United

Rarmani only joined Rotherham on Wednesday last week, having missed most of Town's pre-season due to isolating after testing positive for COVID. Edmonds-Green was an unused sub for 'The Millers' who beat Plymouth 2-0.
Rotherham played a back 3, so there will be lots of opportunities in future games for REG to get game time. Rotherham are next in action on Tuesday night against Accrington.

Kieran Phillips: Walsall

Kieran was the first Town player to leave on loan this summer as he signed for League 2 Walsall and played most of the Midland club's pre-season. Phillips came on off the bench for the last 20 minutes and played on the left wing. It was an underwhelming performance from Kieran as the former Everton man only managed to complete one pass as Walsall were defeated 1-0 against Tranmere Rovers.
Former Terriers Joe Murphy, Peter Clarke and Carl Rushworth were involved in the game. Phillips next potential outing is on Tuesday away at Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup.

Romoney Crichlow: Swindon Town

Crichlow joined Swindon this week after signing a new two year deal with Town. Romoney came off the bench for the last 10 minutes as Swindon led 2-1 at the time to Scunthorpe and put in a solid performance as Swindon ran out 3-1 winners.
Crichlow played as a right-back and played a part in the third goal, Romoney won the aerial dual that turned the ball over, in turn starting the counter-attack that Swindon scored from. He also completed 2 tackles with a 100% success rate.
Jack Payne and Harry Bunn were two former Town players who were involved in the match. Swindon's next game is on Tuesday against Cambridge in the Carabao cup, which Crichlow could feature in.

Matty Daly: Hartlepool United

A player who has been touted as being one of the stars of the Town academy, but for a number of different reasons has never kicked on. At 20, this loan is a big chance for him to assert himself in a senior side. Daly came on for the last 4 minutes in which time Hartlepool managed to snatch victory on their return to the football league. Daly managed 1 key pass while he played in the centre of midfield.
Daly's next game is on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup against Crewe.
