Millwall vs Huddersfield Town

Competition: EFL Championship Matchday 9

Date: 31/10/2020

Ground: The Den

A game which sees an inform Millwall side that hammered Town 4-1 on the closing night of the Championship season last year, face a Town side that has been shot back down to Earth from their cloud nine bubble. Back to Back defeats for the second time this season saw Huddersfield slip further into the bottom half of the table after their 4 game unbeaten run. A win for Town could see them go as high as 8th, although a win for Millwall could see them move up into the automatic promotion positions.
Looking back over our past fixtures against the East London side, Town has scored in each of their last eight games, winning six, drawing one and losing one. With this being said, Town's last win against 'The Lions' was over 5 years ago.
Harry Toffolo is set to make his 100th consecutive start and if he plays the full 90, he will have completed the full 90 in 96 out of the 100 games. The last time he missed an EFL fixture was when he played for Millwall.
When Carlos Corberan takes to the dugout on Saturday, Town will have used 4 different managers in each of their last 4 games against Milwall.
Question marks have been raised over Juninho Bacuna's recent form and while the CuraƧaoan is arguably Town's most talented player and has the potential to be a top player but he doesn't seem to be applying himself properly in recent games. Getting subbed off at half time is never a good look and I think if you are going to play Bacuna for a half a game, I would much rather he comes on at half time. In my opinion, we are better off playing a player from the B team and see if they give a more consistent performance. Matty Daly has been knocking on the door for 2 seasons and I really think he should be considered to start. We saw him score in pre-season and score the winner last season against Charlton and he has only featured two or three times since. Brahima Diarra is another player I would love to see. At only 17 and a still quite an unknown quantity, he could show some of the flashes he showed in pre-season. Alternatively, Town could play Ben Jackson again, I felt he had a very good pre-season and played well against Norwich. Although he is a bit more defensive than Daly and Diarra, he can really pass a ball and I think he works very well in Corberan's style of play.
Jaheim Headley and Mustapha Olagunju have just signed for sixth tier side Welling United, the same side Romoney Crichlow was on loan at last season. They join Kian Harratt (who was loaned to Guiseley) on leaving the club on youth loans until the start of the January transfer window.
The game gets underway at 3pm, Saturday, 31/10/20 at the The Den.

Town Team News:

Huddersfield will have Naby Sarr back available after serving his suspension.
Alex Vallejo and Danny Ward are still unavailable, while Vallejo only has two days left of self-isolation, he won't likely be available until after the international break, due to not playing a game since January.
Rarmani Edmonds-Green could play a part in the matchday squad, as Mustapha Olagunju has been allowed to leave on loan.
Corberan confirmed in his press conference that Tommy Elphick is nearing the end of his recovery, after his serious knee injury sustained last November.
